ALGIERS- The Ministry of Interior and Local Authorities announced Wednesday the launch of biometric passport consisting of 48 pages.
The launch of this passport “will facilitate the travelling of a large number of citizens who make frequent trips,” said the ministry, inviting the people wishing to acquire this document to contact the commune’s services.
The 48-page biometric passport will spare its holder the trouble of renewing this document which contains currently only 24 pages.
The ministry said that the launch of this passport is part of modernizing the local administration and bringing it closer to the citizens.

ALGIERS-Citizens who have a biometric passport can apply for a biometric national identity card (CNIBE) on the website of the Ministry of Interior and Local Assemblies (https://passeport.interieur.gov.dz).
According to the website of the Ministry of Interior, the applicant must have a biometric passport so that he can use this online service. The data that will be printed on the biometric national identity card will be similar to those mentioned in the biometric passport.
According to the same source, the applicant must indicate his current address and cell phone number. Once his biometric national identity card is issued, the applicant will receive a SMS informing him of the date and place of withdrawal.

ALGIERS-The electronic correction of mistakes in documents of civil status for citizens residing in Algeria is operational as from Tuesday, the Ministry of Justice said in a statement.
"The ministry of Justice announces the official launch of the electronic correction of mistakes in civil status as from 26 August 2016," the same source stated, adding that this measure "will enable citizens living in Algeria to submit requests for the electronic correction of mistakes in civil documents via internet."
"In order to benefit from this remote service, interested citizens must report once with the court to register".
"Citizens who have already registered to withdraw the certificate of nationality and/or the criminal record can use the same account to benefit from this remote service to correct mistakes in the documents of civil status."
The ministry recalls that "the continuation of deep reforms launched in the sector of justice is one of the main goals of President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika's program."
