ALGIERS-Head of State, Abdelkader Bensalah, on Thursday urged the people to mobilize for the success of the crucial election of December 12, which will be a national holiday.
"As we celebrate this glorious anniversary, I once again urge the Algerian people to make the next presidential election a national holiday that will bring the final blow to those who hide hatred and animosity from the children and grandchildren of the martyrs of the Revolution,” said Bensalah in a speech on the eve of the 65th anniversary of the outbreak of the 1st November 1954 Revolution.
Bensalah said he was aware that Algerians will block the way to those who seek to exploit the rules and principles of democracy.
The State "will face all attempts and manoeuvres and the people are called upon to be vigilant and prudent, and their loyal children must be prepared for malicious circles and their acts hostile to the country.”
Bensalah stated that "respect for and protection of fundamental rights and freedoms does not give anyone the right to use his or her freedom of expression and demonstration to violate the right of others to exercise their freedoms and express their will to participate in the elections. The supreme interest of the country implies the obligation to preserve public order, the law and State institutions, and to ensure the security and stability of the country.”
The Head of State also underlined the State's determination to give the people a voice in choosing, in all sovereignty and freedom, the one to whom the mission of establishing the new mode of governance will be entrusted.
