ALGIERS- Chief Executive of the Public Textile Group Getex, Mokrane Zerrouki, noted an improvement on local clothing supply level, compared to previous years, where the share of the national market jumped from 4% in 2016 to 20% in 2018.
“It is expected that this rate will increase to 35%, after the start of production, next September, of the cotton spinning mill in Relizane, with a production capacity of 9,000 tonnes/ year by 2020,” Zerrouki told APS.
The factory is part of a complex project consisting of 8 integrated plants owned by the mixed company "Tayal", 5 of which entered into production, while 3 other factories are expected to enter production before the end of 2019.
According to Zerrouki, these factories provide good quality products that comply with international standards of the textile industry.
The group's turnover rose from DZD 11 billion in 2017, to more than DZD 13 billion in 2018, which reflects, "the new dynamic" experienced by the textile industry, said Zerrouki.
According to the same manager, the turnover generated by the garment manufacturing activity represents 40% of the Group’s total activities, he concluded.
