ALGIERS- Lieutenant General Ahmed Gaïd Salah, Deputy Minister of National Defence, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army (ANP), called on the Algerian people to show extreme vigilance and maintain solidarity with their Army.

During his visit to the 4th Military Region in Ouargla, the army chief called on the Algerian people to show extreme vigilance and maintain solidarity with their Army with a view to stop those with pernicious schemes to infiltrate into the ranks " whatever the conditions and circumstances."

The Lt General also referred to a "major challenge," namely the fight against corruption which lobbies have ramifications within the political, financial and media circles, and in the State institutions as well.

He explained that the approach followed to combat this scourge is founded on a "solid basis," based on "sure and confirmed" information, and "tangible evidences."

Referring to numerous "heavy and dangerous" cases, Gaid Salah said that the anti-graft move disrupted the "gang" which tried to "hinder" the efforts of both the Army and the Judiciary.
