ALGIERS- The operation of the exceptional revision of the electoral rolls started Wednesday and will run until February 6th, in anticipation of the presidential election, to be held on 18 April 2019.
This exceptional revision of the electoral rolls comes in accordance with the provisions of the organic law no 16-10 relating to the electoral system and the signing of the presidential decree on convening the electorate for the election of president of the Republic on 18 April 2019.
The electoral rolls are, thereby, drawn up and revised in each municipality under the monitoring of an electoral administrative committee made up of a magistrate appointed by the head of the relevant territorial Court to chair the committee, of a head of the People’s Communal Assembly, of the municipality’s secretary general and of two electors of the commune, appointed by the committee’s head.
The electoral rolls of the members of the national community abroad are also drawn up and revised in each diplomatic and consular district under the monitoring of an electoral administrative committee chaired by the head of the diplomatic representation or the head of the consular post, appointed by the ambassador.
The Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities and National Planning invited all the citizens who are not on the electoral rolls and aged eighteen on the day of elections, i.e. 18 April 2019, to register to vote in their municipality of residence.
