ALGIERS-Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel on Tuesday said that Algeria was determined to spare no effort to give effect to sub-regional integration under the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU).

In a press conference after talks with Chairman of the African Union (AU) Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat, Messahel reiterated “Algeria’s readiness to give effect to sub-regional integration.”

“We have done a lot for the AMU. We have also suggested an alternative to address the current situation through the creation of a Maghreb economic community and we are ready for this project,” said the minister.

As regards infrastructure, Messahel recalled that Algeria had always adopted a regional perception and had shown willingness to contribute to the implementation of the trans-Maghreb train and the trans-Saharan road projects.
